Libidian House by Elina Pirinen is a new, maternal, feminist, and hybrid community that creates large-scale artistic content and collaborative productions. Libidian House by Elina Pirinen creates and produces Pirinen’s dance works, develops contemporary feminist and future-oriented strategies, organizes avant-garde multidisciplinary workshops for art professionals and children, and collaborates on the productions of other artists.
The artistic director of Libidian House is Elina Pirinen, a dance artist combining also practises of composing, lyrical work and art pedagogy.
At Libidian House, the key factors in the international evaluation of the quality of artistic activities are peculiar virtuosic expertise, the artistic and collegial chemistry of the artistic team, the respectful treatment of partners and funders, and a warm, humorous, and people-oriented approach to the work culture.
Libidian House pursues to envision the future structures of the dance field and to establish itself as a stable community situated between and alongside traditional institutions and independent collectives. Libidian House connects like an umbilical cord to various placentas and, in turn, serves as a placenta for other makers in the field to connect to. In the uncertain, independent field of the performing arts, everything is based on collaboration and collegial support. This is reflected in a new organizational model whose actions are based on passionate, warm, profound, and curious international and domestic collaboration.
In addition to being the artistic home of Elina Pirinen, Libidian House is also a birthplace for the works of other freelance artists. Above all, Libidian House aims to open its productional doors in order to strongly support cis and trans women, queer people, and children, and to serve as a brave space for passionate and hopeful artistic exploration, ambivalent feminine libidinism, imagination, and education.
